WHY GOD MADE GRANDPARENTS 2
Author Unknown

God made the world with its towering trees,
its majestic mountains and mighty oceans.
He made the green valleys and quiet woodlands,
the cool streams and delicate flowers,
And He put these and many other beautiful things
into the world to bring delight to our hearts.

Then in His great wisdom,
God foresaw our human needs.
He saw that when we were little children
we would need someone
whose arms and heart were always open...
someone who could hug and kiss us
a dozen times without ever getting mushy about it...
someone who would fix us frosted cupcakes
and cookies shaped like monsters
even when we weren't having a birthday.

He saw that there should be someone
who wouldn't get tired
of tying shoelaces, telling stories and fixing toys...
someone who would let us get by
with fewer baths, more desserts
and later bedtimes than we ever could at home.
That's why God gave us grandparents.

And God saw that as we were growing up
we would need someone
who could put up with us
no matter how silly we acted...
who could think of interesting things to do on a rainy afternoon
and wouldn't mind if we made noise doing them...
someone who would never care how slowly we walked
or how many times we asked the very same question...
someone who wouldn't scold
if our new puppy dog dug holes in the backyard
or if we wore a bare spot in the grass under the swing.
That's why God gave us grandparents.

He knew how important it would be to have someone who would
always greet us at the front door with outstretched arms
and wave good-bye until our car was out of sight...
someone who would set our school photographs where everyone
could see them and keep our homemade valentines forever...
someone whose patience would never wear out
even when Mom or Dad were at the end of theirs.
That's why God gave us grandparents.

And God knew that when we were older
we would need someone to see only the best in us...
someone who would always trust and believe in us,
especially when we weren't feeling so good about ourselves.
He saw that we would need someone
to make us feel important by asking opinions
and listening to our ideas and never treating us
as if we were still little kids...
someone who would know when we could use
a sympathetic ear and a word of encouragement
or when we should be left alone to sort things out for ourselves.
That's why God gave us grandparents.

He knew that we would sometimes stumble and need someone
to help us learn to laugh at our mistakes and start all over again...
someone who would listen to our longings, share our joys
and encourage us to reach our highest goals.
He foresaw our hopes and yearnings,
our dreams and aspirations.
He knew that love would make the difference
between failure and triumph...
between mere existence and fulfilment.
And so God gave us grandparents...
for their warmhearted laughter and gentle kindness',
their tears of concern and words of praise,
for their smiles and their prayers
and most of all --- their love.
That's why God gave us grandparents.
