Pancake Mix

If you make too many Pancakes dont  throw  the rest away,

Always keep some near you on a plate or on a tray,

For Pancakes are quite versatile and nothing can compete

for use as comfy insoles to soothe your aching feet,

And British trains might run to time and never go adrift

if Drivers were promised Pancakes at the end of every shift.

If you should suffer hair loss, dont worry any more,

A Pancake in the head at night your image will restore

For when its bandaged tightly round underneath the chin

a whole new growth of healthy hair will suddenly begin,

And if you should get peckish and feel you need a bite

you can break bits off from round the edge and nibble in  the night.

So many are the uses our pancakes can be put,

You can stuff some up the chimney to stop a fall of soot,

Or if your table wobbles, and wobbles more and more

put a piece of pancake between the leg and floor,,

And if your hall is littered with much unwanted mail,

Put one over the letter box and fix it with a nail.

If its time to walk the dog and he is very very old,

Drape a large one over his back to protect him from the cold,

But watch him very carefully as you walk him down the street

for if its nearly mealtime he might decide to eat.

And when he is home and tired and taken off his lead

a basket lined with Pancakes is luxury indeed.

Use one in the kitchen if your oven gloves are lost,

Or cover your Camelias to protect them from the frost;

And if you feel a nasty draft creep across the floor

cut some up in narrow strips and lay them at the door,

But chiefly if you are hungry and feel you want a treat

remember soaked in lemon juice they are very nice to eat.

                                                          Ron  Smith.
