THE LEEK
Tam Craven

 My old friend Bill

He gave me a leek

And a made a pot o? soup

That normally lasted a week

When the soup was ready

There was a knock on ma door

It wus Bill wi? a? his weans

And there wus merr than three or four

They a? got stuck in

Tae the lovely minestrone

A wantid tae keep some fur the morra

Noo there wusny gonny be oany

Not a slice o? breed

Wus left in ma hoose

No? even a few crumbs

That wid feed a wee moose

But guid auld scots hospitality

Is unbroken and renowned

It?s all over the world

More solid than a pound

My old friend Bill

He gave me anither leek

And says; ?yir soup wus magic tam,

Same time nixt week?
